Start with the outlook
Choose the edge from the main viewing position. A garden, distant landscape or open outlook can shape the experience; the design does not require a rooftop.
03 / AN EDGE THAT OPENS TO THE VIEW
A still surface. An uninterrupted horizon. A pool planned around what lies beyond.

BEYOND THE BEAUTIFUL EDGE
An infinity pool uses an overflowing edge to make the water appear to continue into the landscape. Water passes over a carefully positioned lip into a lower catch basin or trough, where it is collected for recirculation.
The effect depends on the relationship between the viewing position, waterline and surrounding levels. The catch basin, circulation system and structure need as much attention as the visible edge.
Lower catch basin or trough
A continuous circulation cycle.
Water crosses the vanishing edge towards a lower collection area.
The catch basin collects the water for the designed storage and filtration system.
Filtered water returns to the pool to maintain the designed operating level.
Simplified circulation guide. Collection, storage and equipment are designed for your site.
DESIGNED AROUND YOUR SITE
Start with how it will look.
Plan for how it will work.
Choose the edge from the main viewing position. A garden, distant landscape or open outlook can shape the experience; the design does not require a rooftop.
The catch basin needs space, access and a coordinated drainage plan. Site levels and the area beyond the edge should be reviewed before finalising the layout.
Elevated and rooftop pools require a professional structural assessment. Edge details, waterproofing and safe access are designed for the particular site.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE
The things worth knowing before planning infinity pools.
Water spills over a selected edge into a lower basin or trough. It is collected and recirculated through the designed water-treatment system. From the intended viewing position, the edge makes the water seem to extend into the view.
The overflowing water is collected and returned as part of the circulation system. Like other outdoor pools, it can still need make-up water because of evaporation, splash-out and maintenance. The collection design must suit the site.
No, but the site levels and outlook need to support the effect and the lower collection area. A ground-level site may be suitable after design review; a hillside is not a requirement.
Only after the building’s structural capacity and the proposed water loads are professionally assessed. The pool, catch basin, waterproofing, drainage and safe maintenance access must all be considered. Additional structural work is reviewed separately.
The listed package includes JCB excavation, soil removal, ground dressing, RCC structure, brickwork, pool tiles, filtration plant and pipelines. The measured area, edge and basin specifications, equipment, taxes and any extra site or structural work are confirmed in the written quote.
A perimeter overflow pool normally keeps water level with a channel beside the deck. An infinity pool focuses the overflowing water on one or more vanishing edges, with collection below, to create a visual connection to the landscape.
The basin needs accessible inspection and cleaning along with the filtration and water-treatment equipment. Debris, water levels and the overflowing edge should be checked as part of the routine agreed for the installed system.
We begin with the view, where people will sit or approach, site levels and available space for collection below. Photos from the intended viewing position and a site drawing help make that discussion specific.
